Australian Governance

Australian governance is based on a parliamentary democracy and constitutional monarchy, with the British monarch as head of state represented by the Governor-General. Power is divided into three branches: the Legislature (Parliament), which makes laws; the Executive (Prime Minister and Cabinet), which implements laws; and the Judiciary, which interprets laws. Parliament consists of two houses—the House of Representatives and the Senate—elected by citizens. Governance emphasizes principles of transparency, accountability, and democratic participation, ensuring elected representatives serve the interests of the Australian people within a framework of laws and constitutional protections.
