Australian Film Commission

The Australian Film Commission was a government agency responsible for supporting and promoting the development of the Australian film industry. It provided funding, resources, and strategic initiatives to help Australian filmmakers produce, distribute, and showcase their work both nationally and internationally. The agency aimed to foster a vibrant local film culture, encourage diverse storytelling, and enhance Australia’s reputation in global cinema. In 2008, it was merged into Screen Australia, which now handles these responsibilities.
