Australian Customs Service
The Australian Customs Service was responsible for regulating and facilitating international trade, collecting tariffs, and enforcing laws related to the import and export of goods. They ensure compliance with national security, customs, and trade laws, including preventing illegal substances and prohibited items from entering the country. The service also manages border crossings, inspects shipments, and processes customs documentation. While it was a standalone agency, in 2009 it merged with other border security agencies to form the Australian Border Force, which continues to oversee customs and immigration functions across Australia.
