Aurora Australis

The Aurora Australis, also known as the Southern Lights, is a natural light display that occurs in the Earth's southern polar region. It happens when charged particles from the sun interact with Earth's magnetic field and collide with atoms in the Earth's atmosphere. These collisions release energy in the form of colorful light, creating beautiful, shimmering curtains and shapes in the sky. The colors mainly range from green to pink and red, depending on the type of gases involved. Aurora Australis is the southern counterpart to the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) and is primarily visible from high-latitude regions near Antarctica.
