auditory development

Auditory development refers to how our ability to perceive and interpret sounds evolves from infancy through childhood. At birth, newborns can hear, but their auditory system is still maturing. Over time, they improve in detecting different sounds, recognizing voices, and understanding speech. This process involves the growth of the ear’s structures and the brain's ability to process sound information. By around age five or six, most children have developed full auditory skills, enabling clear speech understanding, sound discrimination, and auditory attention, which are crucial for language development, learning, and communication.
