Audit Commission
The Audit Commission was a public organization in the UK responsible for reviewing the way local councils, health services, and other public bodies used their resources. Its role was to ensure these organizations managed taxpayers’ money properly, provided good services, and were financially transparent. The Commission conducted independent audits and inspections, reporting its findings to help improve public services and hold organizations accountable. It was abolished in 2015, with its functions transferred to other oversight bodies, but its primary purpose was to promote efficiency, effectiveness, and integrity in public sector organizations.
