Attorney-in-fact
An attorney-in-fact is a person you legally authorize to act on your behalf through a document called a power of attorney. This person can handle specific tasks or make decisions for you, such as managing your financial affairs, signing documents, or making healthcare choices, depending on the scope granted. The authority is limited to what’s specified in the document and can be temporary or durable. Essentially, an attorney-in-fact is a trusted representative who acts in your stead when you're unable or choose not to handle certain matters yourself.
