attentional networks
Attentional networks are the brain’s systems that help us focus, switch attention, and stay alert. There are three main networks: the alerting network, which keeps us ready to pay attention; the orienting network, guiding us to focus on specific stimuli or locations; and the executive control network, helping us manage distractions and make decisions. These networks work together to allow us to process important information efficiently, adapt to new situations, and maintain focus on tasks. Understanding these networks helps explain how our brains coordinate attention in different contexts.
