Attack roll
An attack roll is a roll of a die, typically a 20-sided die (d20), used in tabletop games to determine if an attack successfully hits a target. The player rolls the die and adds any relevant bonuses or modifiers based on their character’s skills or equipment. If the total meets or exceeds the target’s defense or difficulty class (DC), the attack is successful, resulting in damage or other effects. If not, the attack misses. It’s a game mechanic that introduces randomness and chance, simulating the uncertainty of combat or actions.
