Atrax robustus

Atrax robustus, commonly known as the Sydney funnel-web spider, is a highly venomous spider native to eastern Australia. It has a sturdy, glossy black body and prominent fangs. The spider's venom can cause serious illness in humans, including symptoms like muscle spasms and breathing difficulties, and can be fatal without prompt treatment. It typically inhabits moist, bushy areas and often burrows underground or hides in logs and dense foliage. Despite its dangerous reputation, bites are rare due to its solitary and defensive nature. Antivenom is available, making treatment effective if administered quickly.
