atmosphere of Venus

Venus’ atmosphere is very thick and composed mainly of carbon dioxide, with clouds of sulfuric acid. This dense layer traps heat through a strong greenhouse effect, making Venus the hottest planet in the solar system, with surface temperatures around 900°F (475°C). The atmosphere’s pressure at the surface is about 90 times that of Earth’s, equal to being deep underwater. Winds and storms swirl continuously in this harsh environment, but the thick clouds obscure the surface completely from view and create a runaway greenhouse effect, making Venus an extremely inhospitable world.
