Athletic Identity
Athletic identity refers to the extent to which an individual defines themselves through their involvement in sports or physical activities. It encompasses how much they see being an athlete as a core part of who they are, influencing their self-esteem, priorities, and social interactions. A strong athletic identity can motivate dedication and performance, but it may also create challenges if injuries or other circumstances force a reassessment of this self-view. Essentially, it’s about how central athletics are to a person's sense of self and their overall identity.
