Athlete's Heart Syndrome

Athlete's Heart Syndrome refers to the normal physiological changes that occur in the hearts of well-trained athletes. As a result of intense, prolonged exercise, the heart adapts by enlarging and strengthening its walls, improving its pumping efficiency. This can lead to a lower resting heart rate and increased stroke volume, which are typical signs of an athlete’s heart. While these changes are generally healthy, they can sometimes resemble heart conditions, prompting careful evaluation to differentiate between normal adaptations and potential cardiovascular issues. Awareness of this syndrome is essential in sports medicine for properly managing athletes’ health.
