Atahuallpa

Atahualpa was the last major ruler of the Inca Empire, living in the early 16th century. He became emperor after a civil war with his brother and was known for his leadership and control over a vast, sophisticated society in present-day Peru. His reign ended when Spanish conquistadors, led by Francisco Pizarro, captured him in 1532. Despite paying a large ransom for his release, Atahualpa was executed by the Spanish, marking the fall of the Inca Empire and the beginning of Spanish colonization in South America.
