Asystole
Asystole is a medical condition where the heart stops beating completely, resulting in no electrical activity or pulse. It appears on an ECG as a flat line, indicating no heart function. This situation is critical, as it means the heart isn’t pumping blood, depriving the brain and vital organs of oxygen. Asystole usually occurs due to severe medical issues like heart attacks or advanced heart disease. Immediate emergency treatment, primarily CPR and medications, is essential to attempt to restart the heart and prevent death.
