Asylee
An asylee is a person who flees their home country to escape persecution or harm and is granted asylum in another country, often the United States. This status protects them from being sent back to their home country where they might face danger due to factors like race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group. To become an asylee, individuals must apply for asylum and prove that they have a well-founded fear of persecution. Once granted, they can live and work in the host country legally and eventually seek permanent residency.
