Asthma Challenge
An Asthma Challenge is a medical test used to evaluate how well your lungs respond to certain stimuli, often to diagnose or assess asthma. During the test, you're asked to inhale a small amount of a substance that can cause airway narrowing, such as a "methacholine" aerosol. Your lung function is measured before and after to see how much your airways tighten. A significant decrease in airflow indicates airway hyperresponsiveness, which is characteristic of asthma. This test helps doctors confirm the diagnosis and tailor appropriate treatment plans effectively.
