Asteria (star)

Asteria, in Greek mythology and later astronomical context, refers to a star or constellation. In mythology, Asteria is a Titaness associated with falling stars or meteors, symbolizing celestial phenomena. In modern astronomy, the term "aster" (from Greek "aster," meaning star) broadly describes celestial bodies that emit light, including stars, as well as collections of stars forming constellations. Essentially, asterias or stars are luminous spheres of hot, burning gases like hydrogen and helium, held together by gravity, that produce light and heat, forming the fundamental building blocks of galaxies and helping astronomers understand the universe’s vastness.
