Assured Shorthold Tenancies (AST)
An Assured Shorthold Tenancy (AST) is a type of rental agreement commonly used in England and Wales. It allows landlords to rent their property to tenants for a fixed period, typically six or twelve months. During this time, the landlord must follow specific rules to terminate the tenancy or raise rent. At the end of the term, the tenancy can either be renewed or ended. ASTs provide certain rights to tenants, such as security of tenure, while also allowing landlords to regain possession of the property under certain conditions.
