Assiniboine
The Assiniboine are a Native American and First Nations people traditionally living in the northern Great Plains of North America. They speak the Assiniboine language, part of the Siouan language family. Historically, they were hunters, gatherers, and traders, relying on bison for sustenance. Nomadic by nature, they built portable lodges called tipis and traveled with seasonal migrations. Today, many Assiniboine people live in Canada and the United States, maintaining their cultural practices, language, and community traditions while also participating in modern society. Their history and culture are integral to the broader Indigenous heritage of North America.
