Assignee
An assignee is a person or entity to whom rights or responsibilities are transferred from another party. This commonly occurs in legal, business, or contractual contexts. For example, if a person has a lease on an apartment and transfers the lease to someone else, that new person is the assignee. The original leaseholder is called the assignor. Essentially, the assignee takes over the obligations and benefits outlined in the original agreement, ensuring that the terms still apply as if it were the assignee who made the agreement from the start.
