Assassination of John Lennon

The assassination of John Lennon occurred on December 8, 1980, when Mark David Chapman shot Lennon outside his apartment building in New York City. Chapman, who was suffering from mental health issues, waited for Lennon to return home and then fired five shots, hitting Lennon four times. Lennon was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after. The killing shocked the world, ending the life of the beloved musician and peace advocate, and raised concerns about mental health and gun violence.
