ASROC
ASROC (Anti-Submarine Rocket) is a missile system used by navies to detect and destroy submarines from a surface ship. It works by launching a torpedo-shaped payload that can reach underwater threats quickly. Once launched, the system can either directly guide the missile to the target or deploy a sonobuoy, a small underwater listening device that helps locate the submarine. After pinpointing the target, the missile releases a torpedo that then locks onto and destroys the submarine. ASROC enhances a ship’s ability to defend against underwater threats efficiently and at a distance.
