ASOT
ASOT, or Atrial Septal Occlusion Therapy, is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat a hole in the heart's septum—specifically an atrial septal defect (ASD). During the procedure, a device is inserted through a blood vessel and guided to the heart to close the opening, preventing abnormal blood flow between the heart's upper chambers. This reduces the risk of complications like stroke or heart enlargement. ASOT typically results in shorter recovery times compared to open-heart surgery and is effective in restoring normal heart function with less discomfort for the patient.
