Asoka Pillar

The Asoka Pillar is an ancient stone column built during Emperor Ashoka’s reign in India around 250 BCE. It features tall, carved, and polished pillars that often have a lion or other figures at the top. These pillars served as symbols of Ashoka’s rule and his principles of Dharma (moral law), emphasizing peace, non-violence, and justice. Many pillars also carry inscriptions that spread his messages and policies across his empire. Today, some of the most famous Asoka Pillars, like the Lion Capital of Sarnath, are UNESCO World Heritage Sites and symbolize India's rich historical heritage.
