Asiatic Lions
Asiatic lions, also known as Persian lions, are a subspecies of lion found mainly in the Gir Forest of India. They are slightly smaller than African lions, with a less prominent mane. These lions are herbivores, primarily hunting large animals like deer and wild boar. Historically, their range extended across Asia, but now they are critically endangered with fewer than 600 individuals left in the wild. Conservation efforts focus on protecting their habitat and preventing poaching to ensure their survival. Despite their limited numbers, Asiatic lions are a vital part of India's natural heritage and biodiversity.
