ASDIC

ASDIC, now known as sonar, is a device used primarily by submarines and ships to detect underwater objects. It works by emitting sound pulses into the water; when these pulses hit objects like submarines or underwater terrain, they bounce back as echoes. The ASDIC system then analyzes these echoes to determine the location, distance, and size of the object. This technology enhances underwater awareness and navigation, especially in conditions where visual detection is impossible. Essentially, ASDIC acts as an underwater radar, using sound to "see" beneath the water’s surface.
