It ensures these labs follow strict procedures for analyzing evidence, such as fingerprints or DNA, to produce reliable and legally defensible results. Accreditation by ASCLD/LAB indicates the lab has been independently assessed and meets high standards for accuracy, competence, and consistency, thereby promoting trust in forensic evidence used in criminal justice.
