Article 6 of the Paris Agreement
Article 6 of the Paris Agreement outlines how countries can work together to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through cooperative efforts. It allows for the transfer of emission reductions, called "internationally transferred mitigation outcomes" (ITMOs), between countries to help them meet their climate goals more efficiently. It also includes a framework for voluntary cooperation, such as market-based approaches like emission trading. The goal is to promote transparency, ensure real and verifiable emissions reductions, and support sustainable development, enabling countries to collaborate effectively while maintaining accountability for their climate commitments.
