Arthur Philip

Arthur Phillip was an English naval officer and the first Governor of New South Wales, Australia. He led the First Fleet, which arrived in 1788, establishing the first British colony in Australia. His leadership was significant for its emphasis on cooperation with Indigenous peoples and humane treatment of convicts.
