Arthur Compton

Arthur Compton was a physicist who studied how light interacts with matter. He is best known for discovering the "Compton effect," which showed that X-ray photons collide with electrons and lose energy, changing their wavelength. This finding provided strong evidence that light behaves both as a wave and as particles (photons). His work helped deepen our understanding of quantum physics and the nature of light. In recognition, he received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1927. Compton's research was fundamental in shaping modern physics and our understanding of atomic processes.
