Artesunate Combination Therapy
Artesunate Combination Therapy (ACT) is a treatment for malaria that uses artesunate, a powerful anti-malarial drug, combined with another medicine. This combination works more effectively than using just one drug, helping to rapidly reduce the number of malaria parasites in the blood and prevent the development of drug resistance. ACT is the preferred treatment for uncomplicated malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum, ensuring better recovery rates and helping control the spread of resistant malaria strains. It’s administered as a short course of medication, usually over three days, to quickly and effectively combat the infection.
