Arromanches

Arromanches is a small seaside town in Normandy, France, renowned for its role in World War II. During the D-Day invasion on June 6, 1944, Allied forces needed a way to land troops and equipment on the heavily fortified beaches. They built a temporary harbor, known as the Mulberry Harbour, offshore nearby. Arromanches is famous for the remnants of this harbor, including concrete "caissons" or floating platforms, which played a crucial role in supplying and supporting the invasion. Today, it is a historical site and a reminder of the Allied effort that helped liberate Western Europe.
