arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia

Arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia (ARVD) is a rare heart condition where the muscle tissue in the right ventricle (one of the heart's chambers) gradually gets replaced by fatty or fibrous tissue. This abnormal change disrupts the heart's electrical signals, potentially causing irregular heartbeats (arrhythmias) and reducing the heart's ability to pump blood efficiently. ARVD can increase the risk of fainting, dizziness, or sudden cardiac arrest, especially in young, active individuals. It is often inherited and requires medical monitoring and management to prevent serious complications.
