Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC)

Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC) is a rare heart condition where the muscle tissue in the right ventricle is gradually replaced by fat and scar tissue. This process disrupts the heart's electrical signals, increasing the risk of irregular heartbeats (arrhythmias) that can cause fainting, palpitations, or even sudden cardiac arrest. Often inherited, ARVC typically affects young athletes and may have no symptoms initially. It can be diagnosed with imaging and electrical tests, and management includes medications, lifestyle changes, and sometimes implantable devices to prevent dangerous arrhythmias.
