ARP poisoning

ARP poisoning, also known as ARP spoofing, is a cybersecurity tactic where an attacker manipulates the Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) on a local network. This causes devices to associate the attacker's IP address with the wrong physical hardware address (MAC address). As a result, data meant for a legitimate device is redirected to the attacker’s device. This allows the attacker to intercept, monitor, or alter sensitive information, or even launch further attacks. Essentially, ARP poisoning tricks devices into trusting the wrong source, disrupting normal network communication and compromising security.
