Arno Penzias

Arno Penzias is an American astrophysicist renowned for his discovery of the cosmic microwave background radiation in 1965, alongside Robert Wilson. This radiation is the afterglow of the Big Bang, providing critical evidence for the Big Bang theory of the universe's origin. Their work helped confirm that the universe is expanding and cooling over time. Penzias and Wilson were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1978 for their groundbreaking research, which fundamentally shaped our understanding of cosmology and the history of the universe.
