Army of the Republic of Artsakh

The Army of the Republic of Artsakh was the military forces of the self-declared Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, an unrecognized state primarily inhabited by ethnic Armenians in a region internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan. Established to defend the enclave amid territorial disputes, the army played a key role in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflicts, especially during the 1990s and the 2020 war. It consisted of local Armenian units supported by Armenia. Following Armenia's and Artsakh's strategic shifts, the military's role diminished, and Azerbaijan regained control over parts of the territory, impacting the region's stability and future.
