Army of the New Model
The Army of the New Model was a military force established in England during the English Civil War (1645) by the Parliamentarians. It was created to provide a more effective and disciplined army compared to previous forces. This new army was composed of paid soldiers, enhancing loyalty and professionalism, and was organized into well-structured units. Its success in battles helped the Parliamentarians gain control over the monarchy. The New Model Army also promoted ideals of meritocracy, enabling lower-ranking soldiers to rise based on skill rather than social status, influencing future military organization and democratic principles.
