Army of the Commonwealth of England
The Army of the Commonwealth of England was the military force established during the English Commonwealth period (1649–1660), following the monarchy's collapse. It was created to suppress royalist opposition and maintain the regime led by Parliament and Oliver Cromwell. The army was professional, disciplined, and played a key role in the English Civil Wars' aftermath, including the eventual overthrow of King Charles I. It also helped expand republican ideas and enforce the new government until the monarchy was restored in 1660.
