Army of Parliament (english civil war)
During the English Civil War (1642–1651), the "Army of Parliament" referred to the military forces supported by the Parliamentary side, opposing King Charles I. It was made up of trained soldiers, volunteers, and political supporters fighting to limit the king’s power and establish parliamentary authority. The army played a crucial role in defeating the Royalist forces, leading to the king’s trial and eventual execution. Their victory paved the way for temporary republican rule, ending centuries of absolute monarchy and marking a significant shift toward parliamentary sovereignty in England.
