Army Beta
The Army Beta was an intelligence test developed during the 1917-1918 period to assess the cognitive abilities of army recruits who couldn't take standard written tests, often due to language barriers or lack of education. It utilized visual and oral tasks, such as pattern recognition and picture puzzles, to evaluate traits like problem-solving, learning, and memory. This non-verbal testing approach helped identify individual strengths and needs within a diverse military population, contributing to better placement and training decisions during World War I.
