Armorica
Armorica was an ancient region in northwestern France, roughly corresponding to modern Brittany and surrounding areas. During the Roman era, it was inhabited by Celtic tribes and known for its distinct culture and language. The name "Armorica" means "the land near the sea," reflecting its Atlantic coastline. Over time, it integrated into the Roman Empire, but its regional identity persisted. Today, the historical term is mostly of archaeological interest, highlighting the area's rich Celtic and Gallo-Roman heritage.
