Armenian khachkars

Armenian khachkars are intricately carved stone slabs, known as cross-stones, traditionally created by the Armenian community. Typically made from tuff or basalt, they feature detailed cross motifs, often accompanied by floral and geometric patterns. Serving as spiritual, memorial, and cultural symbols, khachkars are erected to honor the dead, mark significant events, or serve as protective talismans. Recognized for their craftsmanship and historical significance, they date back to the 9th century and are considered a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, reflecting Armenia's religious devotion, artistic heritage, and identity.
