Armenia's political history
Armenia has a rich political history marked by its ancient culture and significant geopolitical position. It became the first nation to adopt Christianity as a state religion in the early 4th century. Over centuries, it faced invasions from various empires, including the Persians and Ottomans. The modern nation emerged after World War I but was soon incorporated into the Soviet Union. Armenia gained independence in 1991 following the USSR's collapse. Since then, it has faced challenges, including territorial conflicts with Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh, and ongoing struggles with political reform and economic development.
