ARL (Australian Rugby League)
The Australian Rugby League (ARL) was the governing body for professional rugby league football in Australia before merging with the Super League into the NRL in 1998. It organized the sport's major competitions, including the historic Australian Rugby League competitions and the State of Origin series. The ARL was responsible for setting rules, overseeing team operations, and promoting the game nationally. Its role was to ensure the sport's growth, integrity, and professionalism within Australia. Today, rugby league in Australia is primarily governed by the National Rugby League (NRL), which succeeded the ARL after the merger.
