Aristid Lindenmayer

Aristid Lindenmayer was a Hungarian-born biologist and mathematician known for developing a formal system called L-systems in the 1960s. L-systems are a way to model the growth processes of plants and other organisms using simple rules for how parts of a structure expand or branch over time. These rules can generate complex, realistic patterns of plant shapes and fractal-like structures by iteratively applying the same instructions. Lindenmayer’s work helps scientists understand biological development and is also used in computer graphics to create realistic images of plants and natural forms.
