ARGO (global ocean observing system)

ARGO is a global network of over 4,000 autonomous floats that monitor the world's oceans. These floats drift with ocean currents, diving deep to collect data on temperature, salinity, and other properties, then surface to send this information via satellites. The data helps scientists understand climate change, improve weather forecasts, and monitor ocean health by providing real-time insights into conditions deep below the surface. Managed by international cooperation, ARGO enhances our ability to observe and respond to changes in the ocean's role in Earth's climate system.
