Ardeotis arabs
The Ardeotis arabs, commonly known as the Arabian or Great Bustard, is a large bird native to the Middle East and parts of North Africa. It is notable for its impressive size, with males weighing up to 15 kg (33 pounds), and its striking plumage that helps it blend into dry, open habitats like grasslands and deserts. These birds are ground-dwellers, primarily feeding on insects, small mammals, and seeds. They are social during the breeding season, where males display elaborate behaviors to attract females. Due to habitat loss and hunting, their populations have declined, making them vulnerable and subject to conservation efforts.
