Archival Information Packages (AIPs)
Archival Information Packages (AIPs) are structured collections of digital or physical data and associated metadata stored within an archive. They contain the core content—such as documents, images, or multimedia files—along with information describing its origin, context, and management details. AIPs ensure that records are preserved in a consistent, manageable way for long-term access, authenticity, and usability. Essentially, they act as comprehensive containers that safeguard valuable information over time, making sure it remains accessible and understandable for future reference or research.
